Scientific and educational direction " World Music Cultures Studies " designed by the composer and scholar Givani Konstantinovich Mikhailov (1938-1995) and his school continues develop at the Moscow Conservatory.

 

In our approach, we emphasize that the concept of "world music" is not a synonym for someone's "not our" ethnic music but the whole "world music", which is a global system for all musical cultures in the world, including Europe, America and Russia (see Methodology).

 

Materials in this site are information about the Center and the phenomena of world musical culture which draws our attention and reflects our comprehension. It is our view on the world of music.

 

We are on a path of learning and experiencing the exciting endless Ocean of Sound.
